Money Heist Season 5: Release Date, Major Spoiler, and Updates

“Death can be the greatest opportunity of your life.” Sounds familiar, right? Well, these words have been spoken by one of the wisest characters of Money Heist named Berlin. Hello there, TV shows peeps, welcome to Gizmoseries, and today we are going to talk about Money Heist Season 5 release date and updates.

The show currently wrapped up its fourth season with Netflix, consequently ordering the production for its fifth chapter after the overwhelming success and positive responses that the show has garnered worldwide.

Money Heist Official Poster

The show followed a pattern of the storyline in all the seasons, with each season ramping up the action and bloodshed more than its predecessor. Each season ended with a grand heist, but things were a bit different in Season 4 as we saw the plans of the Professor failing, which led to the death of certain key characters/members of the bandit group. This highlighted that the season ended in a cliffhanger and that there’s plenty of room for the plot to expand to a Season 5.

Money Heist Season 5 Release Date

Spanish website formulatv.com has claimed that Netflix has renewed the series for a fifth chapter and that the pre-production has already begun. La Vanguardia, a Spanish newspaper, has quoted director Jesus Colmenar’s statement, “That there is going to be a fifth [part]  can be said”. The series has been produced by the production company, Vancouver Media and it seems pretty clear that production for Chapter 5 would begin after the filming of Sky Rojo, which has also been produced by the media company.

At the moment, there is no concrete date that Netflix has dropped for Money Heist Season 5. However, if we look closely, then we will see that there were nine months between the release of Season 3 and Season 4. If we were to follow the same pattern, then we can expect the release of the upcoming season by the end of 2020.

Money Heist Season 5
Netflix has postponed the production of Money Heist Season 5 due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

Although Netflix ordered the production of Season 5 in October 2019, it paused the same in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation occurring worldwide. Due to this pandemic, it seems highly unlikely to expect Season 5 by 2020. To boost the excitement of the fans even further, Spanish site Marca has reported that the title will have a fifth as well as a sixth season. The producers said that the plot is so diverse that the show could go on for seasons with the ending still being unknown.

Money Heist Season 5  Cast

With Nairobi’s death in Season 4 of La Casa De Papel, the gang’s population has dropped further. But the series is also best known for bringing its characters back through flashbacks just like what happened with Berlin, Moscow, and Oslo. Other than that the cast will more or less remain the same. Here is the cast list,

  • Ursula Corbero as Tokyo
  • Alvaro Morte as the Professor
  • Itziar Ituno as Lisbon
  • Pedro Alonso as Berlin
  • Paco Tous as Moscow
  • Alba Flores as Nairobi
  • Miguel Herran as Rio
  • Jaime Lorente as Denver
  • Esther Acebo as Stockholm
  • Enrique Arce as Arturo Roman
  • Maria Pedraza as Alison Parker
  • Darko Peric as Helsinki
  • Kiti Manver as Marivi Fuentes
  • Hovik Keuchkerian as Bogota
  • Rodrigo de la Serna as Palermo
  • Najwa Nimri as Alicia Sierra
  • Luka Peros as Marseille
  • Belen Cuesta as Julia
  • Fernando Cayo as Colonel Luis Tamayo

Money Heist Season 5 Expected Plot

Similar to the previous seasons of La Casa De Papel, it is quite obvious that in the upcoming season too, the Professor will be at the helm of the heist operations and the gang executing the armed robberies based on his instructions.

The cliffhangers from Season 4 can now be addressed in detail in the upcoming season. The Professor gets cornered by Inspector Alicia Sierra while Lisbon remains inside the bank with the others, and they have no way to escape. The only gullible way for escape seems to be melting the gold at high speed while Sergio searches for a way to outsmart Sierra.

Money Heist Season 5
Season 4 Episode 15

At the end of Season 4 credits, the resistance song “Bella Ciao” could be heard singing. It has been pointed out by Oprah Magazine that Najwa Nimri (Inspector Alicia Sierra) is the actress who is singing the popular tune right after the credits. Fans are hyping and anticipating her joining the gang as a new member.

Whereas, some fans are also suggesting that she could be Tatiana i.e, Berlin’s wife who is played by Diana Gomez. And the most surprising fact in this one is that they both look alike. Either way, if it goes the way of the fans, i.e, Sierra joining the cause, then it could ramp up the entire dynamics of the show.

The future for Tokyo, Rio, Arturito, Berlin, etc. seems bleak and unknown at the moment as the producers claim that the scriptwriters are trying out different possibilities to shape their characters based on the plot. The possibilities are endless.
