Ryo Hirano, OLAibi, and KOM_I participated. Birth of anime & picture book “Morumetamo.”

“Reframe Lab” is a project to develop “play” and “Manabi” that nurture rich imagination and build a platform that connects art, education, medical care, and welfare.

We have been active since 2018 under the co-sponsorship of the certified NPO PIECES and the general incorporated association Whole Universe. In fiscal 2020, under the theme of “playing with Mienaimono,” we have collaborated with various artists to develop a “play” program that allows you to feel, experience, and cultivate your imagination. This time, a book and animation, “Morumetamo,” are born from this project. To commemorate this completion, an exhibition will be held from July 22nd (Thursday) to August 9th (Monday / holiday) at the new space BaBaBa in Takadanobaba.

The story of metamorphosis (transformation), in which what I thought to be “myself” at one point transforms into water, birds, and wind, from bacteria in the soil to the universe.

The original story was produced by Reframe Lab, the visuals for picture books and animation by artist Ryo Hirano, the music by OLAibi, and the narration by KOM_I. In addition, the picture book has a column page for adults and a guide on how to play the workshop developed by Reframe Lab, entitled “Observation Notes for Play and Manabi.” We have recorded columns by people from various fields under “the possibility of play.”

Your inner universe and play with the outer universe.

If your child feels lonely or lonely now, and if you have any doubts about this world, how should we deal with it? Feeling doubts is also the power of the person. Every experience and emotion (joy, relief, anger, anxiety, confusion) in you is a vital sign of knowing yourself and may one day be your food.
While perceiving them as “treasures of the inner universe,” let’s play with the “outer universe” where forests, soil, fire, etc., are linked from the sea to the sky. I made such a story “Morumetamo.”

Enjoy this world with play and imagination.

It is known that social turmoil and crises caused by natural disasters and economic problems, including the spread of coronavirus infection, significantly impact our bodies and minds. It also comes from indirect experiences such as media coverage, whether or not you faced a crisis. At that time, research has shown that what is essential for children is “play and imagination” and that it is an appropriate relationship between adults and children.

Therefore, using the power of “play” that everyone has as a clue, we not only look at the future society as “things that can be seen” but also give signs to “mienaimono” such as life and non-life, mind, and another world. We have launched a program to feel, imagine, and go back and forth between diverse nature.

The complex where Ichikawa Somegoro & Sugisaki Hana faced each other as an anime voice actor

* This interview was conducted in March 2020, before the postponement of publication was announced due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

Pinch words as if playing music, express them in words. In that way, Kabuki world’s rising star Ichikawa Somegoro and young talented actress Sugisaki Hana are animated movie ” Words spring up like a cider ” Served as a voice actor. Ichikawa and Sugisaki play “Cherry,” a haiku boy who is not good at communicating, and “Smile,” a masked girl who hides the complex. It is a refreshing youth movie that depicts the events of two people who met in a particular accident in a local city. (Interview/text / Rie Shintani, Photo / Yuki Maniwa )

It was Somegoro Ichikawa who played the voice of a 17-year-old haiku boy. For Koshiro Matsumoto, the 10th generation, and Shirokane Matsumoto, the 2nd generation, for his father, and Somegoro, who lives in a world of Kabuki, the encounter with a young man named Cherry was “fresh.” At the age of 14, he experienced the first movie, the first voice actor, the first starring, and three firsts.

“I haven’t had a youth-like youth (because I’ve been on the Kabuki stage since I was a child), and I don’t think I’ll ever have one, so (unfortunately) I sympathize with my youth and cherry youth. Wasn’t there ”

However, I was able to enjoy it because it was different.

“For example, the Kabuki script only contains the lines and information about where and who goes out, while the movie script explicitly describes how the character feels at that time. It was very fresh. ”

Sugisaki became the challenge of the voice actor following “When Marnie Was There ” and ” Mary and the Witch’s Flower. ” It is a bright and positive heroine, Smile, who has a complex but plays.

“I realized once again that it is difficult to convey with just voice, even in terms of technology, where you would usually be asked for an agent that you wouldn’t usually make in your life. But this time, many co-stars, including Mr. Ichikawa. It was very fresh and fun to have the experience of recording with Mina-san. ”

Director Ishiguro Kyohei’s commitment that “interacting with each other naturally leads to quality improvement” rather than dubbing by each performer alone is taking the method of recording together. Both Somegoro and Sugisaki were selected because the director fell in love with them, but Somegoro revealed that he didn’t like his voice.

“I don’t like my voice, so it was painful to hear the recorded voice, but the director chose it as Cherry’s voice, so instead of creating a character, the director said,” Cherry’s I played with my voice, who said, “It’s a voice.”

Sugisaki also said, “I didn’t feel like creating a role.”

“What kind of girl is Smile? When I first saw the character’s illustration, I felt that she was a girl with strong eyesight and dignity. When I saw Smile in the video, my body naturally gave me a voice. I felt like it was coming out. ”

The director who listened to Sugisaki’s radio imagined that “Smile would laugh like this,” and Sugisaki said, “I got a hint from the director’s words, and Smile’s laughter feels close to my own. It has become. ”

Cherry is not good at talking to people and cannot speak well when nervous, and Smile always wears a mask in public to hide her prominent front teeth during orthodontics. What makes this movie so appealing is that it depicts a complex that everyone can sympathize with in a boy-meets-girl-like youth movie. I sympathize with how they face their complex and how they grow up, and I am impressed.

Somegoro himself said, “It can be said not only for cherries but also for smiles, but it also realistically reflects modern teens (although there are universal conflicts),” he said, adding himself to the character’s feelings. There were.

Haiku and records are items that are of interest to both teens and adults today. In the first place, the phrases that appear in the play, including the words ” Words bubbling up like a cider, ” which is also the title, were devised by active high school students of the same generation as Cherry. Also, behind the fact that cherry’s hobby is haiku, it is an essential element that expresses cherry, inspired by the theory that the ancestor of Japanese rap may be haiku.

“I also like reading haiku and poetry and expressing them using” words, ” says Sugisaki, who talks about the culture depicted in the film.

“I’m not familiar with haiku and music culture, but I get the impression that what was once new will soon become nostalgic, and the old one will go around and be received as a new one. I’m interested in the records that appear in the play. ”

Haiku is familiar to Somegoro, saying, “My grandfather often sings,” but I had never experienced a record. “I’ve never heard a form, and I was interested in having the director show me what I used as a reference for the record in this movie, and not only listening to it but also decorating it and collecting it. I wanted to listen to the record myself. ”

” Words Bubbling Up Like a Cider, “which depicts the youth of a summer experienced by the 17-year-old hero, is a movie that resonates not only with teens but also with adults, and is a movie with nostalgia and modernity. ..

What is the character of “HUNTER x HUNTER” that Rio Uchida longs for?

TOKYO FM program “Qoo10 presents Rio Uchida, what are you going to wear tomorrow?” (Every Friday from 18:30 to 19:00). Rio Uchida, active as an actress and fashion model, sends out a life-sized “now” through interaction with listeners and talks with guests. The broadcast on Friday, July 16, talked about Uchida’s recent addictive anime.

◆ Challenge to cosplay “SPY x FAMILY”

The other day, Uchida challenged cosplay in a magazine project. He said that he cosplayed the supernatural girl Anya who appears in the manga “SPY x FAMILY” by Tatsuya Endo, who is serializing in “Shonen Jump +” (Shueisha)—looking back. Uchida, who says he is very weak in spy works, confesses, “I wanted to be a spy until quite recently …”. “Isn’t a spy the sound that you admire for Chuunibyo? You admire spies, assassins, and other characters with a little darkness.” I especially admire Kirua, who appears in Yoshihiro Togashi’s manga “HUNTER x HUNTER.” He said that he was surprised at his dark upbringing and high ability trained by rigorous training, “There is a place that makes me feel cartoonish. Spies are beautiful to me, aren’t they?” I commented.

◆ She recommended spring anime!

July, which has an atmosphere like summer production, is also the time for anime fans to start cool summer anime. The April cool anime has reached its final episode one after another, and Uchida says that he had two of his favorite works. The first is the anime “Dragon, Buy a House” by Kawo Tanuki and the drawing by Aya Shoko. It’s a story about a powerless dragon who has been disowned by the dragon clan and continues his preview journey to buy his own home. Uchida commented, “I was really healed. I also like to see real estate information online, so I was watching it against myself (laughs).” “It doesn’t mean that a big incident will happen (laughs), but I’m looking forward to seeing it every week,” he said. The second is the anime “The Saint’s Magic Power is All-Purpose,” based on Yuka Tachibana’s original work. It’s a so-called reincarnation animation in which a female office worker reincarnates in a different world, but it seems that the content was different from what I had imagined. Uchida cites his favorite point as “the character of the main character, Sei-chan, is too good.” In addition, he said that he was thrilled by the knight captain (Albert) of the prince character and said, “I was rarely squeezed ♪ I went around one lap and was killed by a gentle and elegant prince.”.

◆ The key to wearing “girly” is …
Frilled sleeve chiffon blouse

In the program, Uchida, who loves online shopping, surfs the internet for products that he wants to wear tomorrow. There is also a “Pochiru” corner, “Today’s Rio Pochi”—introducing fashion that suits the seasons and trends. This time, we introduced a “Frilled sleeve chiffon blouse.”

“It’s a summery blouse!” Uchida gives the impression that he picked up the real thing. “The frills on the sleeves cover the shoulders well, and it’s not too flashy or too small, just right!” Regarding how to wear it, he commented, “I think I’ll tuck in with high-waisted denim that isn’t too dark. I want to wear white or clear sandals at my feet!” This item can give a girly atmosphere if you wear it, but for those who are worried that it will be too girly, I advise you to wear a large casual clear accessory!
