A24 Brings Diverse Slate of Films to the Big Screen in 2023

A24, a renowned film studio, has established itself as a pioneer in the industry with a diverse range of films under its belt. The studio is set to release a slate of new films in 2023, showcasing the talents of emerging and established directors. One of the most anticipated films is “When You Finish Saving the World”, the directorial debut of Jesse Eisenberg, a coming-of-age dramedy that explores the complex relationship between a mother and son, starring Julianne Moore and Finn Wolfhard. The film had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2022 and is a story of mother-son relationships and the struggles of growing up as a young adult.

Another standout film is “Close”, the sophomore effort of Belgian director Lukas Dhont, which tells the story of two 13-year-old best friends who are separated by tragic circumstances. The film features a powerful performance from Eden Dambrine and won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. “Close” is a poignant portrayal of childhood friendships and the devastating consequences of circumstance.

A24 is also set to release “Sharper”, a comedy-thriller written and directed by Benjamin Caron, starring Justice Smith, Sebastian Stan, Julianne Moore, and John Lithgow. The film follows a con artist operating in a world of billionaires and is set to release on February 10, 2023. “Sharper” is a mix of comedy and thriller elements with a complex plot involving con artists and wealthy individuals.

The studio is also set to release “The Iron Claw”, a biopic about the Von Erichs, a dynasty of wrestlers who made a significant impact on the sport in the 1960s, featuring performances from Lily James and Zac Efron. The film is a biographical drama that explores the lives of the Von Erichs, a family of wrestlers. Other anticipated releases from A24 include “All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt”, a decade-spanning drama about the life of a Black woman in Mississippi, and “Showing Up”, a humorous portrait of art and craft following a struggling artist as she prepares to open a new show, featuring performances from Michelle Williams and André 3000.

Both “All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt” and “Showing Up” are set to premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, showcasing the talents of up-and-coming directors and offering a range of genres and styles. In addition to these films, A24 is also releasing “The Deepest Breath”, a documentary about free-going, and “Past Lives”, a romantic love story about two childhood friends who reunite 12 years after separating. Both films are set to premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.

A24’s 2023 slate is filled with diverse films and talented directors, offering a range of genres and themes, ensuring there is something for everyone to look forward to in the coming year. The studio’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of storytelling makes its 2023 slate a promising one filled with cinematic experiences that explore complex relationships, comedy, and drama.
