Jeri Ryan, best known for her iconic role as Seven of Nine in Star Trek Voyager, is joining the cast of AMC’s Noir Western Dark Winds for Season 2. Ryan will play the role of Rosemary Vines, a femme fatale who becomes embroiled in the lives of Navajo Nation Police officers Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn, alongside Nicholas Logan, who will be taking on the role of Colton Wolf, a dangerous killer-for-hire. Both characters were introduced in Tony Hillerman’s 1980 novel People of Darkness, which has not been adapted for the series before. This addition is exciting news for fans of the series and the iconic actress herself.
Ryan has a storied career spanning multiple series, including Boston Public, Leverage, and Body of Proof. Her iconic role as Seven of Nine in Star Trek Voyager made her a breakout star, and she reprised the role in the recent Star Trek Picard series. Logan, on the other hand, has appeared in the Sundance TV series Hap and Leonard as well as several films. The series Dark Winds is based on Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee 70s-set detective novels and is expected to premiere later this year.
Ryan will join a talented cast that includes Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon as Leaphorn and Chee, alongside Jessica Matten, Deanna Allison, Rainn Wilson, Elva Guerra, Jeremiah Bitsui, Eugene Brave Rock, and Noah Emmerich. Created by Graham Roland and executive produced by McClarnon, George R.R. Martin, Robert Redford, Tina Elmo, Chris Eyre, and Vince Gerardis, Dark Winds is a critically acclaimed series that explores themes of justice and morality in a small Navajo Nation community. With John Wirth taking over showrunning duties for Season 2, fans of the series can expect even more intense and thrilling storytelling as the characters navigate the complexities of their cases.
Ryan’s addition to the cast adds a new layer of excitement and intrigue to the series as she brings her signature charm and charisma to the role of Rosemary Vines. Her character’s complicated past seems to be deeply entangled with that of the two Navajo Nation Police officers, played by Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon, which will undoubtedly lead to some fascinating and unpredictable interactions between the characters as the series unfolds.
