The Force Awakens New Fears and Mysteries in Disney’s Ahsoka

As the highly anticipated Disney+ series Ahsoka Tano gears up for its debut, fans are filled with anticipation and curiosity about the two new force-sensitive enemies, Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati. These formidable foes, clad in striking orange-hued attire, appear determined to thwart Ahsoka’s progress, leaving onlookers to ponder their true nature and motivations. Against the backdrop of the New Republic era, where Grand Admiral Thrawn’s reign and whispers of Palpatine’s return cast a shadow of uncertainty, Baylan and Shin’s intentions remain shrouded in mystery.

Some theorize that Baylan and Shin might be Sith Lords, driven by the “Rule of Two” to further the dark side’s ambitions. However, their lightsabers and non-traditional Sith attire suggest alternative possibilities. Could they be Imperial Inquisitors, former Jedi who were brutally tortured and brainwashed into serving the Empire? This would make them formidable adversaries for Ahsoka, who has a history of battling Imperial forces. Their background and allegiances would be deeply rooted in the dark side, making them a compelling addition to the Star Wars universe, adding a layer of complexity to the eternal struggle between good and evil.

Another theory proposes that Baylan and Shin might be early members of the Knights of Ren, a secret organization known for their force-sensitivity and cryptic nature. Their attire and gear seem to mirror the style of the Knights, and their lightsaber colors bear a striking resemblance to Kylo Ren’s cross guard blade. This would mark a significant departure from the traditional Sith-Light/Dark side dichotomy, offering a fresh perspective on the Star Wars universe. The Knights of Ren, known for their mysterious nature, would bring an air of intrigue to their encounter with Ahsoka, potentially blurring the lines between good and evil.

A third theory proposes a connection between Baylan and Shin and Taron Malicos, a dark Jedi from the game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The similarities between Malicos’s character design and Baylan’s, as well as the actors’ voice work, raise the possibility that Malicos somehow survived his apparent death and manipulated Merrin, a young girl with ties to the Night Sisters, to become his new disciple. This theory would add a new layer of complexity to the Ahsoka series, exploring the blurred lines between good and evil in the Star Wars universe, potentially changing the course of the story.

As Ahsoka prepares to make her mark on Disney+, fans are on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting the revelations surrounding Baylan and Shin. Will they prove to be formidable enemies for Ahsoka, or will their true nature be something entirely unexpected? The show’s release in August 2023 promises to offer a thrilling ride, exploring the mysteries of the Star Wars universe and the intricate web of allegiances and motivations that drive its characters.
