The Wednesday Addams Saga Continues: Season 2 Brings New Horrors and Mysteries

A Still From The Wednesday (Via IMDB)

The first season of Netflix’s “Wednesday” was a massive hit, becoming the platform’s second most watched series ever. However, the love triangle subplot received mixed reviews, with fans anticipating its removal in Season 2. Fortunately, it seems that the focus on Wednesday’s love life will soon be a thing of the past. Season 2 is set to lean more into horror and mysteries, introducing new characters and abandoning the romantic storyline.

Season 1 of “Wednesday” followed the macabre teenage girl, played by Jenna Ortega, as she navigated life at Nevermore Academy, a boarding school for supernatural creatures. Despite her best efforts to remain a loner, Wednesday formed close friendships and got entangled in the mystery surrounding the school. In between crime-solving, Wednesday becomes distracted by a love triangle between Tyler and Xavier. However, this predictable teenage plot felt misaligned with who Wednesday is: a fiercely independent and self-assured girl.

Fans are rejoicing now that it seems the love triangle will be 100 percent over. Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier, will not be returning in Season 2, and Ortega has announced that the show will drop the romantic arcs for Wednesday. Instead, the show will focus more on the horror aspect.

The cast has undergone some changes, with Steve Buscemi joining as a series regular, and guest appearances from Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, and Thandiwe Newton. With these new characters and a shift in focus towards horror, it’s likely that fans will be treated to a brand-new spooky mystery that Wednesday will need to solve.

While an official release date for Season 2 has not been announced, production has just begun in Ireland. With the same co-showrunners as Season 1, chances are the same magic that was captured in Season 1 will also be delivered in upcoming episodes. Season 2 can continue to bring in beloved characters from the franchise while introducing new fan favorites.
