Malta’s Mediterrane Film Festival Boasts Diverse Lineup and Industry Program

The second edition of the Mediterrane Film Festival, taking place in Valletta from June 22nd to 30th, promises a charming cinematic experience with its dynamic lineup of films and accompanying industry program. Renowned directors like Tim Miller and Yorgos Lanthimos are among those showcasing their latest works.

The festival features a diverse selection of 15 Competition films, alongside seven Out of Competition entries and seven films in the Mare Nostrum section, focusing on environmental themes. Additionally, Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Kinds of Kindness” will be screened out of competition.

Complementing the film program is an extensive industry program with the central theme “Unity through Film.” A series of panels and masterclasses go into various aspects of filmmaking, discussing globalization in entertainment, storytelling trends, and the evolving animation terrain. Renowned experts from across the globe are slated to participate in these discussions.

The festival’s esteemed jury panels, including Tim Miller and acclaimed filmmakers, promise a keen eye for innovative and impactful cinematic achievements. Each jury is carefully curated to represent diverse perspectives.

Beyond showcasing exceptional filmmaking, the Mediterrane Film Festival fosters meaningful industry discussions and collaborations. The Artistic Director, Teresa Cavina, emphasizes the importance of creating a platform for dialogue and fostering partnerships between Mediterranean and international markets.
