Antony Starr, known for his role as Homelander in “The Boys,” recently weighed in on the age-old debate of who would emerge victorious in a superpowered battle:
Homelander or Superman. Contrary to his co-star Jack Quaid’s assertion that Superman would prevail, Starr confidently asserted that Homelander “would kick Superman’s ass.” His reasoning? Homelander’s ruthless tactics and lack of moral restraint, contrasting with Superman’s more ethical approach.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Starr elaborated on Homelander’s strategy, envisioning him using dirty tactics such as throwing sand in Superman’s eyes and using innocent bystanders as human shields. According to Starr, it’s Homelander’s willingness to fight without restraint that gives him the edge in a showdown with the Man of Steel.
Quaid, who not only stars alongside Starr in “The Boys” but also voices Superman in the animated series “My Adventures with Superman,” offered a more optimistic view for Superman fans. He expressed confidence in Superman’s abilities, suggesting that with time and growth, Superman would ultimately triumph over Homelander.
While the debate over who would win in a battle between Homelander and Superman may never be resolved, fans of both characters have plenty to look forward to.
“The Boys,” based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, has been renewed for a fifth season, with the fourth season set to premiere on June 13, 2024. The success of the series has also led to spin-offs like “Gen V,” which has been renewed for a second season.
Meanwhile, in DC, David Corenswet is set to portray Superman in James Gunn’s upcoming film, set to release in theaters on July 11, 2025. The star-studded cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, and Nathan Fillion, promising an exciting new take on the iconic superhero.
