The science fiction show “3 Body Problem” has secured a three-season deal on Netflix, much to the delight of its fans. The creators of the show, David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo, confirmed the news, aligning with the number of books in the source material trilogy by Liu Cixin.
The series, which was released on Netflix in March 2024, became the streaming giant’s most-watched series for three weeks. The show, set in China, follows a young woman’s decision to make contact with an alien planet, leading to unforeseen consequences for a group of present-day scientists.
Earlier, there was confusion when Netflix announced “all-new episodes” of the show, causing speculation about the number of seasons to come. However, the creators put the rumors to rest during a Television Academy panel at the Netflix FYSEE space.
David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo revealed that the upcoming seasons would delve deeper into the storyline, covering the final pages of the third book. Weiss expressed his excitement about having enough time to tell Cixin’s story properly.
While there is no set release date for the next seasons, they are expected to arrive on Netflix in late 2025 at the earliest. All episodes of “3 Body Problem” Season One are available for streaming on Netflix.
