Sara Ramírez has filed for divorce from their husband, Ryan DeBolt, three years after announcing their separation.

In court documents, the And Just Like That… alum, 48, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split from DeBolt, whom they married in 2012.

Ramírez — who came out as non-binary in 2020 and uses they/them pronouns — listed the date of separation as January 2018, more than three years before announcing the couple’s split on social media.

“Ryan and I are no longer together,” they shared in a since-deleted Instagram post in July 2021, per Out Magazine. “We remain loving and supportive in how we are choosing to forge our new individual paths.

“Thank you for holding space around our choices and respecting our families’ privacy as we go through this process on our own terms,” the statement continued.

In the divorce filing (which TMZ was first to report), the former Grey’s Anatomy star also requested that the pair’s assets be divided per their prenuptial agreement and that the court’s ability to award spousal support for either party be terminated.

In August, Ramírez shared a message of self-love on their 48th birthday in a since-deleted Instagram post, writing, “There is so much to say but I’m gonna keep it simple. You’re welcome.”

“Happy birthday to me,” they added alongside a throwback photo. “May this kid continue to feel and know that they are loved beyond their gender, they are valued beyond their productivity, and they will always be held and protected by this softening blossoming adult who may or may not be bringing their killer mullet back.”

Ramírez also reflected on their journey of self-discovery in an interview in December 2021.

“There was so much for me to unlearn, and I faced my own internalized oppression,” they said at the time. “In this society, we often feel this pressure to live in these rigid boxes. When I stepped out of the box I had put myself in, I discovered my own possibilities for change.”
