MaXXXine, the final installment of Ti West’s campy, scary, and fun trilogy, had its Los Angeles premiere at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre on Monday, June 24th, in a lavish celebration of the city. The event was a love letter to the city, set in 1985, just a few years after Pearl and X, as the film follows MaXXXine Minx, an adult film actor trying to make it big in Hollywood, but her demons from rural Texas threaten to catch up to her. As guests arrived, they were immersed in MaXXXine, surrounded by clever marketing stunts, glitz, and glamor.
The premiere featured a star-studded cast, including Mia Goth, Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Halsey, Giancarlo Esposito, and many more, walking the red carpet. The cast dressed on theme, with Debicki and Halsey opting for sparkly looks, while Collins, Bacon, and Esposito threw it back to the 80s. Goth and Sumney went for a sleek, black look, respectively. The theater lobby featured a display of costumes from all three movies, allowing guests to step into the world of MaXXXine.
Director Ti West introduced the film, crediting A24 for believing in him and his trilogy, and brought out his cast, including Mia Goth, who received a standing ovation, to thank his co-stars for being a joy to work with. West emphasized that MaXXXine is a movie meant to be seen on the big screen, and it’s clear he’s right. The film was made for Hollywood, with recreated sets and real local locations adding to the authenticity. The Night Stalker’s true-crime angle was inspired by famous cases, and the real-life Hollywood connections make MaXXXine a standout.
From the audience reactions to the genuine laughs and gasps, MaXXXine is a must-see film that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. With its big screen glory and ties to real Hollywood history, MaXXXine is a summer must-see, premiering on July 5th.
