Jana Duggar, the eldest daughter of the Duggar family, has finally tied the knot with childhood friend Stephen Wissmann in a grand ceremony in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. The wedding was a moment of joy for the family, bringing together two families with a long history of friendship and togetherness. Duggar walked down the aisle with her father, Jim Bob Duggar, by her side, surrounded by many of her sisters and sister-in-laws as part of her bridal party.
In an exclusive interview with People, Duggar spoke about her feelings on getting married, saying, “I think it is one of those things that all girls envision someday… For me, it felt like, ‘Okay, it’s never coming.’ But now it’s starting to sink in. Reality is starting to set in. And I’m like, ‘Wow, this truly is something that I’ve dreamed of.'”
Duggar’s childhood friend Wissmann is a kind and gentle soul, and the two families have a long history of friendship. Duggar remembered when Wissmann’s family would come to visit them and sing together, and it wasn’t until much later that she considered him as a romantic option. “Coming from two bigger families, we love to be able to get together and celebrate moments like these,” she said. “And so to have all of them there, it just means a lot.”
Duggar also spoke about her memories of her childhood, recalling how the Wissmanns would travel and sing, and how they would get snowed-in at the Duggar home years ago. She remembered Wissmann wasn’t really on her radar at the time, but the two reconnected this year and realized their feelings for each other.
The couple will be starting their new life together in a home they’re fixing up in Nebraska, and fans of the Duggar family can catch up with Jana’s journey on the latest season of Counting On, available to stream on Discovery Plus.
