Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are dealing with the challenges following their separation.
After announcing their split earlier this year, the former Vanderpump Rules stars—who first met in 2015 and married in 2019—will continue to work together, though a reconciliation seems unlikely.
“Jax will return to filming The Valley for season 2 after completing his stay at a mental health facility. It’s been a difficult period for him, having spent the last 30 days in treatment.”
The source continues, “Brittany supported Jax’s decision to seek help, especially for their son’s sake. However, moving forward, she doesn’t want any involvement with him.”
Taylor, 45, and Cartwright, 35, share a son, Cruz Michael Cauchi, who is 3 years old. In February, the couple publicly announced their separation.
At the time, Cartwright explained on their joint podcast When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany, “Jax and I are taking time apart, and I decided to move into a new home to focus on my mental health.”
The news of their split emerged just before the premiere of The Valley’s first season earlier in February. At the premiere, Cartwright told that she felt “a bit of relief” after separating from Taylor, saying that she “needed this space” and that it was “best for [their] family.”
As for filming season 2 of The Valley, the source tells, “Right now, the two aren’t able to be in the same room or communicate with each other.
Brittany has reached her limit and is committed to doing what’s best for herself and her son. She’s been receiving support from her family and friends during this time.”
The insider also shares that much of their ongoing drama will unfold in the upcoming season.
“As the new season of The Valley progresses, many surprising details will come to light,” the source notes.
“With nothing off-limits, it might turn out to be one of the most unpredictable, no-holds-barred seasons of reality television yet.”
The source adds, “There are always two sides to every story, and Jax will have his chance to share his perspective when he returns. His focus is on being a cooperative co-parent for the sake of their son.”
A representative for Taylor and Cartwright was not immediately available for comment, and a Bravo spokesperson told they could not comment on production details.
In season 1 of The Valley, viewers watched as Taylor and Cartwright clashed over various issues, including the idea of having a second child.
“As much as I want another baby, I don’t see how we can bring one into this world if we don’t fix these things in our relationship,” Cartwright said in one episode. “I don’t want this for our future.”
She also expressed feeling that her husband was no longer “attracted” to her, while Taylor attributed their sports bar, Jax’s Studio City, as “the one thing keeping Brittany and I together.”
“I just feel like I’ve woken up,” Cartwright said in a confessional after accusing Taylor of putting on a facade for the cameras. “I feel so much stronger now.
I know I’ll be okay, but I know my worth, and I know I don’t deserve to be in a relationship like this. What was I thinking, staying with him this long?”
During their separation, it was revealed that Taylor had entered a mental health facility. On Aug. 19, it was confirmed that Taylor would soon be leaving the in-patient treatment center.
“Jax has spent the last 30 days in treatment and will be returning home later this week,” a representative for The Valley star confirmed. “It’s been an emotional month for him, and he’s most looking forward to spending time with his son.”
The Valley season 1 is currently streaming on Peacock.
