Bad Monkey, a black comedy series on Apple TV+, follows the story of Andrew Yancy, a former Miami detective who is now a restaurant inspector in the Florida Keys. Yancy’s life takes an unexpected turn when a tourist finds a severed arm while fishing, and he becomes embroiled in a mysterious case. The arm’s owner is identified as Nick Stripling, and Yancy’s investigation into his murder leads him to a web of greed, corruption, and deceit. As Yancy delves deeper into the case, he encounters a cast of quirky characters, including a troubled monkey and a mystical Dragon Queen. Yancy’s love life becomes complicated when his girlfriend, Bonnie, is revealed to have a secret past. Bonnie, whose real name is Plover Chase, is wanted in Oklahoma for sexual assault and has been evading the law for over a decade.

Throughout the first two episodes, Yancy’s investigations lead him to new discoveries and unexpected twists. He finds himself entangled in a complex web of relationships and lies, including a romantic relationship with Bonnie, whose dark past threatens to ruin his life. At the same time, he becomes drawn into another mysterious case involving a murdered man and a large brown truck that seems to be following him. The show’s creators, Bill Lawrence and Vince Vaughn, have woven a complex and intriguing mystery that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. With its fast-paced action and stunning visuals, Bad Monkey is a thrilling ride that explores themes of greed, corruption, and the human condition. The show’s dark humor and nuanced characters only add to its appeal, making it a must-watch on Apple TV+.

The show’s complex web of characters and plot twists keeps viewers engaged and guessing. Yancy’s investigation into the severed arm leads him to meeting a mysterious woman named Madeleine and a developer who is trying to build a mall on the waterfront. The developer, Christopher, is revealed to be the same person as Nick Stripling’s new boyfriend, Eve, adding a new layer of complexity to the story. The show’s use of humor, particularly dark humor, adds to its appeal and makes it a standout in the mystery genre. The show’s creators have done an excellent job of blending action, suspense, and comedy to create a show that is both entertaining and engaging.

Yancy’s character is well-developed and nuanced, and Vaughn’s performance brings depth and complexity to the role. The show’s supporting cast is also impressive, with each character bringing their own unique quirks and flaws to the story. Bonnie, played by Sharon Horgan, is particularly impressive, bringing a sense of vulnerability and desperation to her character. The show’s setting, the Florida Keys, is also well-used, providing a unique and atmospheric backdrop for the story.
