The 90 Day Fiancé Franchise: How Focus on Toxic Relationships May Have Irreparably Damaged Its Reputation

The 90 Day Fiancé series has been on the air since 2014, and in recent years, it has highlighted some of the most toxic and tumultuous relationships. The franchise has built its reputation on showcasing authentic and passionate couples, but over time, it has shifted to focus on more drama-filled and abusive relationships. Stars like Anfisa Arkhipchenko became more popular as they berated and used their partners for the sake of entertainment.

While more drama can certainly make for more entertaining reality TV, the franchise has crossed the line time and time again. Fans have begged for outrageous stars like Jasmine Pineda or Angela Deem to be removed from the franchise, but they have reappeared with a stronger force and their behavior has been excused. The franchise listened to the complaints and is now focusing on changes, like whole new casts, but it may be too little too late.

The franchise’s focus on tumultuous relationships has stained its reputation, and it may not be able to make a comeback. The relationships on the 90 Day Fiancé series have become increasingly abusive and manipulative, with stars like Angela and Jasmine exhibiting behaviors that are both frightening and disturbing. The franchise has set a standard and acted as if these relationships are acceptable, which may confuse viewers and lead them to think that this behavior is something they could accept.

The recent changes to the franchise, such as a new cast and a focus on more positive storylines, may not be enough to make up for the damage that has been done. The new stars, such as Meitalia and James Solis, may still resemble some of the past cast members and may follow a similar path to Gino and Jasmine. Additionally, the franchise’s attempts at couples therapy, such as with Big Ed Brown, may come across as perfunctory and unhelpful.

In the end, the TLC franchise has done a lot of damage, and it may take a long time to recover from its reputation as a manufacturer of exploitative and inappropriate behavior. The show may implement changes and try to regain its viewership, but it may be too late. The franchise’s focus on tumultuous relationships may have stained the minds of viewers, and it may take a long time for the show to regain its credibility.
