The world of Marvel is about to get a whole lot more iconic with the release of two new comic cover figures from Funko’s Marvel Selects line. The figures, which will be exclusively available at Target and online, feature Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, and Ororo Munroe, aka Storm, from the X-Men. These figures are inspired by the classic comic book covers of The Amazing Spider-Man #50 and The Uncanny X-Men #126.

The Storm figure is a stunning representation of the character’s iconic design, with sharply drawn flowing hair and outfit contours. The art emphasizes the line work, giving the figure a stylized and graphic appearance, mirroring the original black and white cover art by Dave Cockrum, Terry Austin, and Danny Crespi. The figure’s simplicity and focus on line work make it a true representation of the character’s classic design.

On the other hand, the Spider-Man figure shows Peter Parker in a more vulnerable moment, out of costume and looking dejected. The cover art from John Romita Sr., Stan Goldberg, and Sam Rosen depicts Peter’s lowest moment when he gives up being Spider-Man and allows crime to run rampant. The figure is a poignant representation of Peter’s struggle with the weight of responsibility as a superhero, and its release coincides with the character’s increased visibility thanks to new animated series and live-action film projects.

The figures are encased in a display case that measures 7-inches wide, 10.75-inches tall, and 3-inches deep, making them a beautiful addition to any Marvel fan’s collection. The Marvel Selects figures offer fans a unique opportunity to collect iconic comic book covers in a physical form, showcasing the beloved characters of Spider-Man and Storm in their classic comic book designs.

The popularity of both characters is on the rise, with Storm enjoying a resurgence thanks to the new animated series X-Men ’97, and Spider-Man having multiple projects in development, including a new animated series and a fourth live-action film. The release of these figures coincides with this renewed interest, making them a must-have for fans of the characters.
