The Penguin’s Rise Brings Complexities to Forefront

LeFranc emphasized the importance of the time jump between episodes 5 and 6, allowing characters to breathe and the story to move forward, showcasing growth and increasing anticipation for what’s to come.

Rhenzy Feliz, who plays Victor, provided insight into his character’s psyche, stating that Victor’s decision to kill Squid was a spontaneous reaction rather than a premeditated act. Feliz drew inspiration from horrific videos to understand the complexity of Victor’s emotions. Cristin Milioti, who portrays Sofia, shared her experience working with Carmen Ejogo, discussing the challenges they faced in conveying the power struggle and vulnerability between the two characters.

Mike Marino, the makeup artist behind Colin Farrell’s transformation into the Penguin, revealed the demands of completely disguising an A-list actor, describing it as a “battleground” to ensure that the makeup doesn’t fall apart or reveal any hints of Farrell’s true identity. As the series progresses, the characters navigate the dark and complex world of Gotham City, with each new episode heightening the stakes and tension, leading up to a season finale that promises to be explosive.

The Penguin series is available to stream on Max in the U.S., offering a unique and charming narrative that explores the complexities of the characters and their relationships.
