The Walt Disney Company announced on Thursday that a new canine companion will join the character lineup at Disney parks and on Disney cruise ships. Bluey, the blue heeler dog from the popular children’s show of the same name, will be added to Disney Experiences at Disneyland, Disney World, and on Disney Cruise Line ships.
Starting in January 2025, Bluey, along with her sister Bingo, will appear on cruises departing from Australia and New Zealand. The experience will feature meet-and-greets with the characters as well as an interactive game for guests to enjoy.
“Bluey has become a household name for families around the world, and we are thrilled to bring her story to life in new ways,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, in the company’s press release.
While Disney has not revealed specific details on when or how Bluey and Bingo will appear at its parks, this expansion follows the success of the characters’ popularity.
The announcement of Bluey joining the Disney Experience comes just days after Disney revealed it would be producing a film about the beloved blue dog in partnership with the BBC.
“Bluey” creator Joe Brumm will write and direct the film, which will continue the adventures of Bluey and Bingo, slated for release in 2027.
Originally aired in Australia before being picked up by Disney+, Bluey became the most-watched kids’ show of 2023 and 2024 across platforms, according to Nielsen data.
The series has won multiple accolades, including five Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards for “Best Children’s Program” and an International Emmy Kids Award for “Kids: Preschool” in 2019.
