Snot is building anticipation for their upcoming reunion shows by keeping the identity of their new vocalist a closely guarded secret, only planning to reveal the singer when they take the stage.
While fans have been speculating and the band has added fuel to the fire with social media teases, it seems the mystery might not lead to the dramatic revelation many are expecting.
In a recent update, lead guitarist Mikey Doling shared some insight into the situation during a Facebook video, which was transcribed by Blabbermouth. Doling suggested that fans should manage their expectations regarding the big reveal.
Doling explained that the secrecy surrounding the new vocalist wasn’t due to a high-profile or celebrity-style announcement. Instead, the decision to keep the singer’s identity under wraps stems from the fact that the vocalist isn’t someone fans would instantly recognize.
Doling stated:
“Hey, what’s happening? Mikey here. I wanted to come on here while I’m driving to Las Vegas. I’m doing a lot of thinking and reflecting on how grateful I am to have Snot back.
I’m really excited to get out there and start playing again with my brothers, the original lineup of Snot, along with our new singer, of course, who you’ll get to know after the January 17th show at the Anaheim House of Blues Parish room.
The reason we haven’t revealed who the singer is yet is strictly because social media can be brutal. They’d just go straight to his — I don’t know — his Facebook, Instagram, or whatever, and start scrutinizing him before he even had a chance to get on stage with Snot.
I’ll tell you this: he’s no one you know, he’s not some big, famous rock star or vocalist, which I’ve heard a lot of people think. They’re assuming that’s why we’re keeping it a secret.
But that’s not it. We found someone who’s extremely talented, an awesome person, and he just does it right. He’s incredible. I’m very confident that once you see what he does with Snot, you’ll be very happy.
Anyway, January 17th at the House of Blues, Parish room, Anaheim, and then the next night, January 18th, at San Diego’s Brick By Brick.
There are still some tickets left for that show, so if you want to come out, we’d love to see you there. Get those tickets before it sells out, ‘cause it’s going to sell out. And then, February 8th, in Snot’s hometown of Santa Barbara, at SoHo. That show is already sold out.
So, yeah, looking forward to getting on stage and kicking some ass for you all. And I want to thank you so much for your support. Let’s make 2025 a kick-ass year.”
Doling’s words seem to indicate that while the mystery surrounding the new vocalist is certainly stirring up interest, the real excitement lies in the performance and the talents of the new member, who will be revealed in time.
