Halle Berry, Sharon Stone, and Michelle Pfeiffer have stepped up to support relief efforts during the devastating California wildfires.
As thousands of homes were destroyed and many more residents evacuated from areas across Los Angeles this week, Sharon Stone, 66, took to Instagram on Wednesday, January 8, to call for clothing donations.
In her post, Stone shared a video highlighting The Coop, a distribution center located on Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles.
She urged her followers to donate “gently used” clothing and other necessities for those displaced by the fires. Stone also mentioned that individuals affected by the disaster are welcome to “shop” at The Coop for clothing and supplies.
Halle Berry, 58, quickly responded to Stone’s appeal, reposting the video on her own Instagram and pledging her support.
“I’m packing up my entire closet and heading over to the COOP! If you live in the Southern California area, I urge you to do the same,” Berry wrote in her caption.
“This is something we can do right now today to help all of the displaced families that are in need of the basics today! Thank you @sharonstone for your leadership. Love you Lady”.
Michelle Pfeiffer, also 66, showed her enthusiasm to contribute in the comments section of Berry’s post, writing, “Can I do tomorrow?”
Later that evening, Stone appeared on NewsNation to provide more details about The Coop’s efforts.
“My sister and another publicist friend of ours opened a store, worked together with a store on Beverly Boulevard,” Stone explained.
“It’s called The Coop, so if you have gently used clothes, shoes, bedding, anything that these disenfranchised people may need, please come immediately to The Coop, starting tomorrow morning, and you can drop them off.”
She added, “If you need things, come to The Coop. This is for people who need any of these things, please come there. This is where you can get them—it’s a distribution center.”
Stone Opens Her Home to Displaced Families
In addition to organizing donation efforts, Stone revealed that she has personally taken in friends who have been displaced by the fires.
“I’ve been taking friends into my home. I have families coming now to move in with us. We’re setting up a place to be able to help people. We’re setting up beds and just room in the house,” Stone shared.
“We’re loading up trucks and taking everything we have over to The Coop, and we’re inviting our friends over to move in with us here. A lot of people are being evacuated.”
Widespread Destruction
The wildfires have caused catastrophic damage, with an estimated 9,000 homes either damaged or destroyed, according to officials cited by The Guardian. Since Tuesday, the fires have ravaged prominent areas, including Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Santa Monica, and the Hollywood Hills.
Several celebrities, including Billy Crystal, Mandy Moore, and Paris Hilton, are among those who have lost their homes to the inferno.
The impact has also reached Hollywood’s event calendar, with premieres for The Last Show Girl, Wolf Man, Jennifer Lopez’s Unstoppable, and The Critics Choice Awards among the many events canceled in the wake of the disaster.
Stone, Berry, and Pfeiffer’s efforts underscore the importance of community support during these challenging times, providing a beacon of hope for those affected by the fires.
