Love Island USA star Hannah Smith is facing two criminal charges stemming from her September 2024 arrest in Atlanta, according to Cobb County court documents.
The 27-year-old reality TV personality was arrested on Monday, Sept. 30, on two felony charges after allegedly threatening and attempting to strike a police officer.
The incident unfolded when Smith was removed from an Atlanta concert venue for being “disorderly by yelling and screaming,” as detailed in police records.
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, Cobb County prosecutor Sonya Allen formally charged Smith with felony obstruction of officers and terroristic threats, according to court filings.
Prosecutors allege in the charging document that Smith “knowingly and willfully obstruct[ed] Cobb County Police Department Officer Kayla Winkfield, in the lawful discharge of her official duties by offering to do violence to said person, by lunging at and attempting to punch and kick Officer Kayla Winkfield.”
The filing also accuses Smith of “suggesting the death of Kayla Winkfield with the purpose of terrorizing Kayla Winkfield” and “threatening to kill Kayla Winkfield.”

At the time of the incident, Smith was reportedly “intoxicated” as she exited the concert venue, per police records . She allegedly struck an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staffer on their right arm, though the staff member opted not to press charges.
Smith then allegedly attempted to punch a police officer who was trying to assist her but failed to make contact.
After being taken to the ground by the officer, Smith was placed under arrest. According to the report, she also attempted to kick the officer multiple times while on the ground but did not succeed.
While being transported to jail, Smith allegedly issued further threats, repeatedly claiming she would kill the officer and the officer’s sister.
Smith was booked into jail around 11:45 p.m. local time and held on an $8,000 bond, as shown in jail records. She was later released under conditions of her bail, which prohibit her from consuming alcohol, marijuana, or any non-prescribed drugs. Smith is also required to undergo random testing for compliance with these conditions.
Smith, a fan-favorite contestant on season 6 of Love Island USA, didn’t last long on the show. She was the first day-one contestant to be dumped from the villa that season.
