James Kennedy will not face prosecution following his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence last month.
On Wednesday, January 22, the Vanderpump Rules alum’s lawyer, Scott Leemon, confirmed that the Burbank City Attorney’s Office had decided not to file charges against him stemming from his December 2024 arrest.
In a statement shared, Leemon expressed gratitude for the attorney’s office. “We thank the City Attorney’s Office for conducting a thorough and professional review of the matter involving my client, James Kennedy,” he said.
He added, “Their diligent investigation confirmed what we have maintained from the beginning—there were no grounds for any charges to be filed against Mr. Kennedy. James is grateful to have this matter behind him and is looking forward to continuing to focus on his sobriety and his DJ career.”
Kennedy’s arrest took place on December 10 after the Burbank Police Department responded to a call about “an argument between a man and a woman” at his Los Angeles home, a police spokesperson.
“The investigation determined it was a domestic incident, leading to [Kennedy’s] arrest,” the spokesperson explained. “[Kennedy] was booked for misdemeanor domestic violence and later posted bail. Formal charges were pending review by the Burbank City Attorney’s Office at that time.”
Citing law enforcement sources, that a witness allegedly saw Kennedy get physical with the unnamed woman. However, when authorities arrived, they did not observe any injuries. Kennedy was released after posting $20,000 bail.
When the news first surfaced, it was unclear whether the unnamed woman involved in the incident was Kennedy’s girlfriend, Ally Lewber. The couple, who have been dating since January 2022, had been spotted together earlier that evening at Kathy Hilton’s annual holiday party.
While Lewber did not confirm any involvement in the incident, she shared a message with fans on Instagram shortly after Kennedy’s arrest.
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and support and for checking in on me,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories. “I’m okay and taking the time I need right now. I deeply appreciate all the kindness and respect for my privacy during this time.”
