Child Star Lee Norris Sees The Image of His Child Role of Boy Meets World in His Son

Former child star Lee Norris now has a little Minkus of his own!

The Boy Meets World alum recently appeared on the rewatch podcast Pod Meets World, where he joined hosts Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, and Will Friedle to discuss a first-season episode featuring his character, the nerdy and ambitious Stuart Minkus.

To prepare for the conversation, Norris shared that he rewatched the episode with his 6-year-old son—a bonding experience that also served as a unique introduction to Norris’ time on TV.

“We live in North Carolina, and we haven’t really had that conversation with him yet of, ‘Oh, Dad was on TV.’ It just hasn’t come up,” Norris, 43, explained.

“He’s getting to the age now, at 6, where he’s starting to notice things. When we’re out and people occasionally ask for a picture with Dad, I think he’s realizing that’s maybe not totally normal,” Norris added.

“So I thought, ‘Okay, this is a good time to talk about it.’ He actually sat down and watched the episode with me.”

Norris, who made a cameo in Boy Meets World’s fifth season and reprised his role in Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World reboot, called the experience of watching the show with his son “surreal and cool.”

When Fishel asked if he could see any of his younger self in his child, Norris flipped the narrative, revealing how his son reminded him of Minkus.

“My wife and I were getting ready for bedtime or something, and he was looking at his books—we always do storytime at night. This was before he’d seen Boy Meets World,” Norris said. “I can’t even tell you what he was saying, but out of the corner of my ear, I heard him say, ‘According to my calculations…’ and I just froze.”

“That’s such a Minkus line!” Strong exclaimed, with Norris agreeing.

“I don’t know if I ever said that as Minkus,” Norris mused, “but his little voice sounds a lot like mine.”

The One Tree Hill actor also shared some adorable moments from watching the show with his son.

“Something would happen that he didn’t understand, and he’d go, ‘Huh?’” Norris recalled with a laugh. “My wife and I were just dying laughing.”

Norris also noted his son’s thoughtful reactions. “Some things would happen, and he’d say, ‘Oh, Dada, that’s not kind,’” Norris shared. “We’re trying to teach him about kindness, so I’d respond, ‘Yep, you’re right. Not kind, but also kinda funny, and that’s okay.’”

For Norris, sharing his iconic character with his son has been an unforgettable experience that bridges his past with his present.
