Marcus Jordan was born during the height of his father’s legendary career. As the second son of NBA icon Michael Jordan, Marcus was just shy of his first birthday when his father secured his first championship with the Chicago Bulls.

Over the years, Marcus has carved out his own path—playing basketball at the collegiate level and making a name for himself in the sneaker industry.

Marcus has also been in the spotlight for his high-profile relationship with Larsa Pippen, whom he dated from 2022 to 2024. The pair also appeared together as contestants on The Traitors season 2.

Their romance sparked debate due to their 16-year age difference, as well as Larsa’s previous marriage to Michael’s former teammate, Scottie Pippen.

However, Marcus maintained that his family was supportive of their relationship. Following their split, he was linked to Nicole Murphy, Eddie Murphy’s ex-wife, after the two were seen together in Miami in December 2024.

Most recently, Marcus made headlines on February 4 when he was arrested in Florida and charged with cocaine possession, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest.

He Grew Up in Chicago

Michael and his then-wife, Juanita Vanoy, welcomed their son Marcus on December 24, 1990. The couple, who were married from 1989 to 2006, also had two other children, Jeffrey and Jasmine.

Marcus and his siblings were raised in Chicago, where Michael played for the Bulls.

In a 2020 interview, Marcus reflected on his unique upbringing as the son of an NBA superstar. While he and his siblings had access to exclusive experiences, they also attended public school and remained close to their extended family.

“I say ‘relative’ because I didn’t take my first commercial flight until I was a junior in high school. I grew up playing PlayStation on a private jet,” he recalled. “So it’s not normal. But my mom, she’s from the South Side of Chicago, and she made sure we stayed grounded by visiting my cousins on the South Side a lot.”

Despite his privileged lifestyle, Marcus admitted that growing up in a famous family had its downsides.

“As I got older, I wished that my parents helped us make connections with other celebrity kids,” he shared during an August 2023 episode of Separation Anxiety.

“Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, there weren’t many other celebrity kids around. We were surrounded by high-net-worth families, but as you get older, you realize the value of having friendships with people who truly understand your experience.”

Marcus followed in his father’s footsteps, excelling in basketball during high school and college. He started his career at Loyola Academy and later transferred to Whitney Young High School before committing to play at the University of Central Florida from 2009 to 2012.

In a 2011 interview with The Gainesville Sun, Marcus revealed that choosing UCF was an easy decision.

“It was the first and last visit I made,” he said. “I just loved it. The facilities were new, and it was definitely a place where I could go in and play right away.”

Marcus also shared that Michael offered him advice on playing at the collegiate level.

“[He] knew how dedicated I was to taking my game to the next level,” Marcus told the outlet. “He gave me tips and pointers whenever I had questions, but his main advice was to stay focused and work hard every day because eventually, it would pay off.”

In 213, Marcus graduated from UCF with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management.

In 2016, Marcus launched Trophy Room, a high-end sneaker boutique in Orlando, Florida. Speaking with the Chicago Sun-Times in 2020, he explained that the store’s name was inspired by a special room in the Jordan family home.

“Trophy Room is inspired by the trophy room that was in our house growing up,” Marcus shared. “Whenever we won an award, my dad would put our trophies in there among his. It really inspired us as kids to go out, do our own thing, and earn our own accolades.”

Initially, Michael was skeptical of the business venture, as Marcus had no prior retail experience. However, after partnering with boutique owner James Whitner and presenting a solid business plan, Marcus was able to convince his father to support the project.

“There are so many places that offer unique items, but we wanted to provide an experience,” Marcus told in 2017. “We want to walk people through the legacy of Jordan Brand, my father’s history, while also telling our side of things.”

In 2022, Marcus made headlines when he was romantically linked to The Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa Pippen, the ex-wife of Michael’s former Bulls teammate, Scottie Pippen.

Larsa later revealed that the two initially met at a party in Los Angeles in 2019 and built “a great foundation as friends.”

“I think it was one night we went out, and there was a girl that was there. She was trying to talk to him, and I was getting jealous over it,” she told. “And it was weird because I’m not really the jealous type, but I was jealous over the situation. That’s when I realized I really liked him. That kind of sealed the deal.”

The pair confirmed their romance in January 2023 after being spotted together in Miami. Six months later, they launched their joint podcast, Separation Anxiety.

However, their relationship faced turbulence in February 2024. They briefly broke up but reconciled on Valentine’s Day, with Larsa sparking engagement rumors by wearing a white dress and a massive diamond ring.

Over the next few months, they experienced a series of breakups and reconciliations before ultimately ending things for good in July 2024.

“Watching season 1, I kind of got hooked,” he admitted. “And I liked that the game focuses strictly on strategy and doesn’t dwell too much on personal life. That was a big draw for me.”

He Was Arrested on Suspicion of DUI and Cocaine Possession in February 2025

On February 4, 2025, Marcus was arrested in Florida and charged with cocaine possession, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest.

According to a police report obtained, Marcus’ car was discovered stuck on railroad tracks near Maitland, Florida, before he was taken into custody.

“The tires were halfway buried in the dirt/rocks on the tracks from being spun repeatedly,” the report stated. Marcus reportedly told officers that he had made a “wrong turn” and needed assistance moving his vehicle.

Later that day, he was seen leaving an Orange County jail after posting a $4,000 bond.
