Yellowjackets fans playfully questioned whether Jason Ritter could “fight” for his wife, Melanie Lynskey—and it turns out, he can.
Following Lynskey, 47, and Ritter, 45, attending the Vanity Fair Oscars party on Sunday, March 2, some viewers of the hit Showtime series took to social media to joke about whether Ritter could defend her honor. (Lynskey stunned in a red gown, while Ritter looked sharp in a black suit.)
Ritter initially confirmed on X that he could indeed “fight” before sharing a video on Monday, March 3, in which he showcased his moves. He humorously captioned the post, “I tried to warn you, now LOOK AT THESE DECOR CHOICES.”
In the comments section, Ritter continued to engage with Yellowjackets fans, keeping the fun going.
“Melanie would like everyone to know there is no rug in the room yet, but that is a part of her evil master plan to make the world more beautiful in any and every way she can,” he wrote.
Lynskey responded in a separate comment, “Traditionally when a person puts their back out they rest and take care of it, but you’re a lone wolf dring you’re gonna do you.”
Ritter and Lynskey have shared the screen multiple times. The couple met in 2013 while filming The Big Ask and later collaborated on projects such as We’ll Never Have Paris and The Intervention.
Ritter has also made cameo appearances in Lynskey’s shows, including Candy, The Last of Us, and Yellowjackets.

“We’ve worked together a few times and it’s always been really fun, but I mean, I’ll do anything with him. He’s so talented,” Lynskey exclusively told in April 2023. “I love his face. I love looking at his face.”
The couple, who welcomed a daughter in 2018, doesn’t currently have plans to work together again.
“No, that’s it. Thank you!” Lynskey quipped. “He can’t be the favorite! I just don’t want the crew to like him more.
That was my only issue—everybody, nobody could stop talking about how kind he was and wonderful and easygoing. And at a certain point, I was like, ‘I got it.’ Yeah, I got it. He’s great. He’s the best.”
Ritter filmed an appearance for Yellowjackets, but his role remained a mystery after it didn’t air during season 2. With the show renewed for a third season, it is reported that Ritter would still make his Yellowjackets debut in the future.
“It was great. But I came back to work and everybody was like, ‘Your husband’s the nicest person in the world. He’s our favorite,’” Lynskey recalled to Us. “And I think, previously, I felt like I was some people’s favorite.”
She added, “Everyone was like, ‘We still love you.’ And I was like, ‘I know he’s nicer. He’s nicer than me. He’s easier to be around. He never complains.’ So he became the new favorite. It was hard for me to give up the title, but I was also happy.”
