Golden Bachelor Stars Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner’s Divorce Drama Unfolds: A Love Story Turned Sour

Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner, stars of the reality TV show The Golden Bachelor Season 1, have been embroiled in a very public divorce drama since April 2024. The couple, who initially expressed their love and care for each other, have been unable to agree on how to part ways amicably, leading to a very noticeable rift on social media. Turner recently celebrated his 73rd birthday on Instagram, thanking his fans for their support during the backlash he received after the divorce, but Nist failed to wish him a happy birthday, a stark contrast to their initial public declarations of love and support for each other.

Their social media profiles now tell a different story, with the couple having unfollowed each other and Nist’s Instagram post celebrating one year of The Golden Bachelor making no mention of her former husband. The tension between them has been palpable, fueled in part by comments from their co-star Susan Noles, who appeared on The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham in May 2024. Noles revealed that she believes the couple’s decision to divorce was due to their struggle to be away from their families, with Turner getting “the raw end” of the deal as Nist had changed her mind on the big move on the show, understandably frustrating him.

Despite the tension, Noles still believes that the love between the former couple was genuine, and both Noles and another Golden Bachelor alum, Kathy Swarts, agree that the entire cast could feel the real love between Nist and Turner when they were on set. The Golden Bachelor Season 1 is currently available to stream on Hulu, and the upcoming installment, The Golden Bachelorette, premieres on September 18, 2024, on ABC, starring alum Joan Vassos as the leading lady.
