Suits creator Aaron Korsh directly addressed fans’ concerns regarding the Suits LA spinoff and whether it might impact the legacy of the original series.
On Sunday, January 26, the 58-year-old writer took to X to respond to viewers questioning if Suits LA would “ruin” the beloved show.
“We’re not trying to replace our cherished originals. It’s simply a new team operating in a different city, tackling different types of cases,” Korsh explained.
He further elaborated in a separate post, adding, “It seems like everyone wishes it was the original cast returning. I anticipated this reaction, and I don’t blame them. My only hope is that people give #SuitsLA a fair shot. If they do, I genuinely believe they will grow to love it.”
Korsh emphasized that NBC’s Suits LA is “100% its own thing” but does feature some “overlap” with the original series. When asked whether Gabriel Macht might reprise his role as Harvey Specter, Korsh didn’t dismiss the possibility of former Suits stars making appearances.

“The network strongly wanted at least one original cast member. From a storytelling perspective, Harvey made the most sense,” he explained. “[Suits LA] is its own entity, not a direct Suits spinoff.”
Regarding the potential return of Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty, or Meghan Markle, Korsh responded, “That remains to be seen.” While open to the idea, his main priority is to “introduce and establish the new characters in this series.”
Suits Creator Responds to Concerns That Suits LA Will Damage the Original Show’s Legacy
The original Suits, set in a fictional corporate law firm in New York City, centered on associate lawyer Mike Ross (Adams) and his partnership with Harvey Specter.
Running from 2011 to 2019, the legal drama followed Harvey and Mike as they took on high-stakes cases while keeping Mike’s secret—his lack of a law degree—under wraps.
After being added to Netflix and Peacock in 2023, the show saw a resurgence in popularity, prompting NBC to develop a new spinoff. The upcoming series stars Stephen Amell, Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis, and Bryan Greenberg.
“We want to bring back the essence of what made Suits great. We want to have fun with it,” Amell told Entertainment Weekly in December 2024.
“The only reason we’re sitting in the Black Lane Law Group conference room today is because of Gabriel, Patrick, Sarah, Meghan, Rick [Hoffman], and everyone else who made up the original Suits cast. They are all welcome anytime.”

Amell also confirmed that his character in Suits LA has a direct connection to Harvey Specter.

“If you look behind my desk, there’s a framed photo of a young Ted Black with what is unmistakably a young Harvey Specter—so there’s clearly some history there,” Amell teased.
“We started our careers together in the D.A.’s office. If I had to pick anyone from the original cast to return, it would definitely be Gabriel.”
He continued, “I truly hope that happens because I’m a huge fan of his character, and I think the dynamic between our roles would be something the audience would really enjoy. … I don’t have the authority to invite past actors for cameos, but as far as I’m concerned, they’re all welcome.
We’re creating our own story, and that’s perfectly fine. There are things we’re exploring on this show that the original never got the chance to.”
