Beyonce Wins Big At 2025 Grammys And Remembers Her Daughter Rumi Receiving The Award

Beyonce Wins Big At 2025 Grammys

Beyoncé made sure to give her younger daughter, Rumi, a special shout-out after a big night at the 2025 Grammys.

The 43-year-old singer expressed her gratitude to the 6-year-old while speaking on Sunday, February 2. “Rumi, who’s on the album—our youngest daughter—she’s at home watching, and I forgot to thank her. So I get to thank her now. Thank you, Rumi,” Beyoncé said.

Beyoncé was also thrilled to have her and Jay-Z’s eldest daughter, 13-year-old Blue Ivy, by her side for the celebration. (The couple, married since 2008, are also parents to Rumi’s twin brother, Sir, 7.)

“She’s taller than me, I don’t like it at all,” Beyoncé joked about Blue Ivy. “I’m so happy she was here.”

Sunday’s awards ceremony was a major moment for Beyoncé, who took home trophies for Best Country Album, Album of the Year, and Best Country Duo/Group Performance. (Rumi, meanwhile, made her recording debut on the song “Protector” from the Cowboy Carter album.)

Beyoncé’s Country Music Success and Challenges

“I really was not expecting this,” Beyoncé said as she accepted the Best Country Album award from Taylor Swift. “I want to thank God that I’m able to still do what I love after so many years.

I’d also like to thank all the incredible country artists who embraced this album—we worked so hard on it. Sometimes, genre is just a code word to keep us in our place as artists, and I want to encourage people to follow their passion and stay persistent.”

Beyoncé’s transition into country music hasn’t come without challenges. After releasing Cowboy Carter in March 2024, she reflected on her experience breaking into the genre as a Black woman.

“I feel honored to be the first Black woman with a number one single on the Hot Country Songs chart,” she wrote via Instagram. “That would not have happened without the incredible support from all of you. My hope is that years from now, an artist’s race will no longer be a factor when it comes to releasing music in any genre.”

While Cowboy Carter received widespread acclaim, some award shows—particularly the CMAs—faced backlash for snubbing Beyoncé’s music. Though she hasn’t publicly addressed the lack of CMA nominations, her father, Mathew Knowles, has spoken out.

“There are more white people in America, and unfortunately, they don’t always vote based on ability and achievements,” Knowles, 73, told in September 2024. “It’s still, at times, a Black and white issue.”

He continued, “The snub speaks for itself. In America, there’s no accountability for people who refuse to embrace other cultures.”
