Denise Richards Has Forbidden Her Children From Watching Her Movie Wild Things

Movie Wild Things

In latest cover story, Denise Richards, 54, opens up about her thoughts on her children watching her films—and why one of her most famous roles will always be off-limits to them.

“She sent me a picture not that long ago on the airplane [saying], ‘Mom, you’re in this movie,’ and it was Drop Dead Gorgeous,” Richards recalls about daughter Sami, 20. Sami adds, “And I said, ‘I’m finally watching one of your movies.'”

For Sami, the experience was both “really funny” and a little “weird.”

“I saw a lot of myself in her,” Sami explains. “Just looks-wise. I don’t know. I feel like we look a lot alike.”

Meanwhile, Lola, 19, admits she also watched Drop Dead Gorgeous when she was younger but says seeing her parents on screen has always felt strange.

“I really admire what they do, of course, but I don’t watch their movies just with my friends. My dad [Charlie Sheen], though, I’ve seen a couple of episodes of Two and a Half Men, but that’s really it,” she says before turning to her mother. “But think about it, if your mom or your parents did that when you were younger, you wouldn’t [watch either].”

Sami agrees, saying, “It takes the magic away from it. It’s also hard to enjoy the movie and really put myself in the movie when I’m like, ‘Oh, there’s my mom.'”

While Richards has no problem with her daughters discovering her extensive film and television work, there’s one movie they are “never” allowed to watch—her 1998 thriller, Wild Things.

“You’ve always told me not to,” Sami reminds her mother. “Even though it’s the most talked [about]… it’s the name of our freaking reality show, [Denise Richards and Her Wild Things].”

“I know, but yeah, the answer is no, not to ever see that again or ever,” Richards says with a laugh. “If there’s maybe a PG version, then she can, but I don’t even know how they would make it a PG version.”

Fortunately for Richards, Sami has no interest in watching the erotic thriller.

“I’ve dealt with kids showing me pictures of my mom and weird s— all through high school and stuff,” she admits.

Denise Richards and Her Daughters Star in New Bravo Reality Show

Sami, Lola, and their 13-year-old sister, Eloise, will be joining their mom on Bravo’s new reality series, Denise Richards and Her Wild Things.

“I’ve always said we need a reality show,” Sami shares. “Anything that went wrong or happened in our family, I would say, ‘Where are the cameras? We need to be filming this.’”

Denise Richards and Her Wild Things premieres with two back-to-back half-hour episodes on Tuesday, March 4, on Bravo.adjustments!
