HBO Max’s Scavengers Reign, an animated sci-fi series, has been cancelled just months after its premiere on the streamer. Despite garnering positive reviews, the show will not be returning for a second season. Instead, it will be making its way to Netflix in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and New Zealand on May 31.

Scavengers Reign follows the story of a spaceship, Demeter 227, which crash-lands on the planet Vesta, a hostile and alien world. The survivors, who are led by a diverse group of characters, including Ursula, Azi, Levi, Sam, and Kamen, must band together to survive the treacherous environment and find a way back home. The show’s creators, Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner, drew inspiration from their 2016 short film Scavengers when developing the series.

Despite its cancellation, Scavengers Reign has garnered a sense of community among its fans, who have praised the show’s unique blend of sci-fi and adventure elements. The series features a talented voice cast, including Sunita Mani, Wunmi Mosaku, Alia Shawkat, and Bob Stephenson, among others. With its striking animation and gripping storyline, Scavengers Reign has left a lasting impression on viewers and will be remembered as a notable entry in the sci-fi genre.

As the series wraps up its run on HBO Max, fans can look forward to revisiting the world of Vesta and its inhabitants on Netflix. Although its premature cancellation has come as a disappointment to many, Scavengers Reign will undoubtedly be remembered for its innovative storytelling and stunning visuals.
