Nicolas Cage is set to star in a live-action Spider-Man Noir series, marking his first television role since 1981. In this gritty world, Cage will play a down-on-his-luck private investigator grappling with his current career as a superhero. The series is based on the Spider-Man Noir comics, which debuted in 2009, and follows a 1930s New York setting. Cage originated the character in animated form in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, where he served as a mentor and ally to Miles Morales.

Cage expressed his love for the character, describing it as a mash-up of his favorite golden age performances. The show will go into the complex world of Spider-Man Noir, exploring the hero’s dark and troubled past. Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot will co-showrun the series, with Harry Bradbeer set to direct the first two episodes. Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios have joined forces to produce the project, with Sony’s president Katherine Pope praising Cage’s involvement.

As the creator of Spider-Verse, Nicholas Cage is also set to return to the animated franchise in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The film, which was delayed indefinitely, will see Cage join an expanded team of Spider-Men, including Spider-Ham, Spider-Gwen, and Spider-Punk, to save the Spider-Verse. Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, the directors of the Spider-Man franchise, will return to helm the film.

With Cage leading the charge, Spider-Man Noir promises to be a thrilling and charming series. Fans of the Spider-Man franchise will be eager to see Cage bring this complex character to life on screen.
