As the holiday season approaches, it’s a challenge to find a mesmerizing edge-of-your-seat thriller, but Netflix has an exciting offering that’s sure to charm audiences. Tthe streaming giant is hosting an advanced drive-in screening of Leave the World Behind, a gripping action-packed thriller starring Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali, and a talented ensemble cast. Before the screening, writer-director Sam Esmail will engage in a pre-screening Q&A session, moderated by Steve Weintraub.
Based on the 2020 novel by Rumaan Alam, Esmail’s adaptation of Leave the World Behind follows Amanda and Clay Sandford, a couple who rent a luxurious home for a weekend getaway with their family. As night falls, two strangers, played by Mahershala Ali and Myha’la Herrold, show up at the door, claiming to be the owners of the house. As tensions rise between the families, the world outside begins to unravel, taking viewers on a thrilling ride. The film also features Kevin Bacon, Farrah Mackenzie, and Charlie Evans in prominent roles.

The advanced drive-in screening will take place on December 7 at The Skylight Row DTLA, with complimentary self-parking and event signage to guide attendees. Guests will be transported to the event, with the pre-reception starting at 6:30 pm and the screening beginning at 8 pm. As an added treat, Netflix will provide complimentary food and drinks, including appetizers and an open bar during the pre-reception, as well as concession snacks before the film.
This 18+ only event will feature an exclusive Q&A session with writer-director Esmail prior to the screening. To enter for a chance to win tickets, attendees must provide their email address and indicate if they wish to bring a +1, +2, or +3. Winners will be contacted on December 3rd or 4th, and will have 24 hours to confirm their attendance. Leave the World Behind debuts on Netflix on December 8, so be sure to catch it before it premieres.
