Instead, the director’s chair will be occupied by Drew Goddard, renowned for his work on The Martian. Lana Wachowski, however, will remain involved as an executive producer, ensuring continuity with the franchise’s roots.

However, Warner Bros. Motion Pictures president of production, Jesse Ehrman, has hinted at a fresh direction with new characters and storylines.
