Jake Gyllenhaal has confirmed that work has commenced on the sequel to the action-packed hit, Road House, in which he will reprise his role as Elwood Dalton. Speaking to TV Line, Gyllenhaal teased that Road House 2 will be even more ambitious and expansive than its predecessor, promising fans an exciting ride.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the project, Gyllenhaal revealed, “All I know is that I’m very excited about it…We’ve had a number of different ideas that we wanted to explore.

And the fact that we’re going to be able to do that is really exciting.” He went on to elaborate that the sequel will be “bigger” and “expansive,” expressing his eagerness to go into the creative process.

Directed by Doug Liman and featuring a stellar cast including UFC champion Conor McGregor in his acting debut, Road House follows the story of ex-UFC fighter Dalton as he takes on the role of a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys, only to uncover hidden dangers lurking beneath the surface.

While details about the direction of Road House 2 remain under wraps, Gyllenhaal’s return ensures a continuation of the thrilling saga.

With the first movie’s mid-credits scene hinting at Conor McGregor’s character Knox making a comeback, fans can anticipate further twists and turns in the sequel. As for the title, speculations abound—could it be Road House 2: Opportunity Knox?

The decision to greenlight a sequel comes on the heels of the remake’s remarkable success on Amazon Prime Video, drawing in a staggering 50 million viewers worldwide over its first two weekends. Amazon MGM Studio chief Jennifer Salke expressed excitement about the sequel, citing the overwhelming response to the first film as a driving force behind the decision.

As production gears up for Road House 2, fans can expect more adrenaline-fueled action and gripping storytelling, building on the momentum of the original while venturing into new territory.
